Shit happens - Get over it?? (when??)

Ever had a decision go against you??

I had this week and it was a big one which to an extent has hacked me off

I've spent the weekend just coming out of the "I'm pissed with life" stage which Paul McGee the SUMO guy perfectly describes as "Hippo Time"

when we allow ourselves to wallow, acknowledge our frustrations , disappointment and anger

I often use Paul McGee'a work as an example to other people about overcoming difficulties and one of my old teams have heard him speak

Sometimes i like to think about it quite simply as - sometimes shit happens!

Eddie Izzard described it beautifully when he said that Shit just turns up and says "I'm here and I'm shit" and you just have to deal with it. There is no answer

I had a major "Shit happens" issue about 7 years ago when someone told a big lie about me and boy was life shit ... But I got over it...

Far greater shit happens to people purely as a result of where they are born - millions born into third world poverty...

Closer to home and shit happened big style for the people in Yorkshire caught in the storms with massive flood damage to their properties -

My current shit is a job I didn't get - I didn't (and still don't believe) the system was fair - but ...

Life ain't fair and shit happens so get over it...

Paul McGee has more tips for getting over it on

and for me a weekend at the gym running myself ragged certainly drove some demons away - as did plenty of Eddie Izzard

One of the greatest comedians ever

as he says - shit happens...

Izzard, who was sixteen when he decided to become a performer, thinks that performing for love is a good trade-off. 'You do have to give. You can’t just stand there and they give it to you,' he says. 'You go out and you perform your heart out.' There is a kind of fierceness in his focus on an audience. 'They gotta commit, big time,' he says, choosing his verb carefully. 'Or just bugger off.' The primary appeal of his act is 'to make myself laugh,' he says. 'The second one is to make them laugh.' Izzard’s laughter engineers a kind of emotional equipoise in him — it’s about having all the information and ye not really knowing anything. His humor, he explains, 'is informed but not informed.' He’s aware that in life, as he puts it, 'shit happens. There is no answer.' This is reflected in his act, where history begins in earnest and ends in fiasco: 'Easter. There’s a ceremony. It’s got a pagan ceremony just sitting underneath it. Easter. Tough time for Jesus. Not a happy lad. All the disciples there saying, "He’s dead. Our leader is dead. How will we remember this day?" ... "Well, uh, I was thinking chocolate eggs. That could work." "Wrapped up in crinkly paper?" "Yes, and you can put more chocolate inside when you open it up. A second amount of chocolate is inside!" "Very good Zebedee." -"Yes, that’s it! And a bunny rabbit shall give it out. A bunny rabbit! With big ears, for the bunny rabbit will be the symbol. For when the ears are down and out, it is a cross." '

Cheers
