The Longest Day
Yes - today's the day when I hear if I'm successful in the next stage of the OD review.
- I have been told that I will get a call between 10-11am with an update
Get up early 6.15 - didn't sleep that well
Have coffee
Send kids off to school - why's Dad quite tetchy today? - Don't ask!
7.50 - Check e-mails - maybe the announcement has come on line - but nothing.
Start writing up visits at 8am to keep my mind active and off the call.
Notice a reply e-mail stating two of my colleagues are on holiday - I wonder how they will be informed.
Send a few good luck text messages to some of my colleagues - I'm sure they're feeling the same - It will be ok - but will it????
I get some nice replies (and start to wonder did I send the texts genuinely or merely to get a nice response back!) - I'm sure I did it for the right reasons - but this OD review can play funny tracks with the mind.
9.15 - can't concentrate so nip out to Starbucks for a quick caffeine injection to calm me down
Back at 9.45.
I might get that call early..................
10.00 - continue to write up visits to keep my mind busy and active
What do they say ' a watched mobile never rings!'
10.15 - no message so far but they've plenty of people to contact so don't worry
10.30 - no message so far but they've got plenty of people to contact so don't worry - honest
10.35 - no news is good news isn't it?
10.45 - no news is in fact no news
10.50 - text Jane (my wife) to say no news as yet
10.58 - two minutes to deadline
10.59 - one minute to deadline
11.01 -
11.02
11.05 - Obvious;y extra time
11.10 - Have they got the right number?
11.12 - Yes I know I'm on a course of Friday afternoon at Chesterfield all about delivering and receiving bad news but please someone just let me know
11.19 - I know I will blog my feelings - hopefully sharing the stress can be good for you
I will let you know how I get on.
Phil.
